Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused former US President Donald Trump of dishonesty regarding his stance on peace in the region. Khamenei claimed that the United States provides weaponry to Israel for use in Gaza, contradicting Trump's statements during his Gulf tour.
Trump, speaking aboard Air Force One after leaving the UAE, warned Iran to act quickly on a US nuclear proposal or face unspecified consequences. Khamenei dismissed his remarks as an embarrassment.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian echoed Khamenei’s skepticism, questioning the contradiction between Trump's talk of peace and his simultaneous threats. Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran remains committed to nuclear negotiations but will not be intimidated.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi refuted Trump’s claim that Iran had received a US nuclear proposal, stressing that Tehran would not surrender its uranium enrichment rights. He also criticized Washington for repeatedly altering its negotiating framework, prolonging diplomatic efforts.
Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s determination to uphold its national interests despite external pressure, labeling accusations of regional instability as unjust. The latest round of Iran-US negotiations ended last Sunday in Oman, with no date set for further discussions.
