Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, received a warm welcome from overseas Pakistanis during his official visit to the United States. The gathering in Washington, DC, saw a large number of expatriates expressing their appreciation for the armed forces and sharing their perspectives on national affairs.
During the interaction, Field Marshal Munir acknowledged the vital contributions of overseas Pakistanis to the country’s economy and global reputation, highlighting their role in remittances, investments, and achievements across various sectors. He described them as “ambassadors of Pakistan” and emphasized the importance of continued engagement and collaboration.
The diaspora praised the military’s performance during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos and Marka-e-Haq, commending the professionalism and bravery displayed by the armed forces. The discussion concluded with a renewed commitment from both sides to work towards a more secure and resilient Pakistan.
The visit comes in the wake of recent tensions between Pakistan and India, following unprovoked attacks by Indian forces on multiple Pakistani cities and air bases. Pakistan responded with a large-scale military operation, successfully downing six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales, and dozens of drones. The conflict ended after 87 hours with a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States.
In recognition of his leadership and strategic command during the crisis, Field Marshal Munir was elevated to his current rank, solidifying his role in ensuring Pakistan’s sovereignty and defense.
