In a rare admission, senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy acknowledged that Pakistan shot down five Indian Air Force jets during the recent conflict.
Speaking in an interview, Swamy stated that Pakistan deployed Chinese fighter jets, which outperformed India’s French-made aircraft. He criticized the Rafale jets, calling them inadequate for India’s defense needs.
Swamy further alleged corruption in the Rafale procurement process, claiming that an investigation would not occur as long as Prime Minister Modi remains in power.
The military confrontation was triggered by an attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) last month, which left 26 tourists dead. India blamed Pakistan without presenting evidence.
Pakistan responded with Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, targeting multiple Indian military sites. The conflict lasted 87 hours before a U.S.-brokered ceasefire ended hostilities on May 10.
Pakistan reportedly downed six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales, along with dozens of drones. Indian Air Marshal AK Bharti acknowledged the losses but refrained from providing details.
According to ISPR, 53 individuals, including 13 armed forces personnel and 40 civilians, were martyred in Indian strikes during the confrontation.
