Pakistan Ranked Last in Global Gender Gap Report 2025 Pakistan has been placed 148th out of 148 countries in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2025, marking its second consecutive decline in gender parity. The country’s overall score dropped to 56.7%, down 0.3 percentage points from 2024.
Despite ranking last, Pakistan has closed 2.3% of its gender gap since 2006. The only improvement recorded was in Educational Attainment, which rose 1.5 percentage points to 85.1%, driven by a slight increase in female literacy (from 46.5% to 48.5%). However, male enrolment in tertiary education declined, affecting overall educational reach.
Pakistan’s Political Empowerment score fell from 12.2% to 11%, with women’s ministerial representation dropping to zero despite a 1.2 percentage point increase in parliamentary representation. The Economic Participation and Opportunity score stands at 34.7%, reflecting rising income disparity and wage inequality.
Globally, the average gender gap remains over 30%, with Iceland leading the index. In South Asia, Bangladesh ranked highest at 24th, while India placed 131st overall.
